Lee Min Jung Talks About Acting As A Divorcee In “Cunning Single Lady”

Lee Min Jung Talks About Acting As A Divorcee In “Cunning Single Lady

Actress Lee Min Jung will be making a small screen comeback through the new MBC drama "Cunning Single Lady".
On February 24, the cast and crew of the drama were in attendance for the press conference, and during the interview, Lee Min Jung said regarding her role, "In the past, I have portrayed characters who broke off their engagement, but this is my first time playing someone who got divorced."
She added, "I feel more attached to the drama because it is a story of marriage, which I believe is a deeper and more intense relationship. Just like when you listen to two people getting a divorce, I hope the viewers would hear out the sides of my character Ae Ra and Joo Sang Wook's character Jung Woo."
On acting as a married woman after getting married in real life, "I believe that actors should experience things before getting into their role, so if I had received a role of a married woman before getting married myself, I wouldn't have been able to accurately fulfil my character. Now that I'm married, there are a lot more roles I can take on."
"Cunning Single Lady" will air of March 5 after the conclusion of "Miss Korea".

Cunning Single Lady – Recap Episode 3

Cunning Single Lady – Recap  Episode 3

Another entertaining episode of Cunning Single Lady is here. We get a clearer picture of the past and Ae Ra’s feelings towards the divorce. With each new episode, I find myself rooting for her more and more, if not completely yet. There can be more in their past than meets the eye and I can’t wait to find that out. The workplace drama comes forward now and to be honest, there are all the stereotypical tropes—hero is the boss, heroine is the employee, mean female colleague/senior, good-natured second lead, but there is still the freshness in our main characters as well as the ex-husband-wife trope which makes things interesting as well as gives a fresh coating to the old formula of a workplace drama. I found this episode really funny and pleasant!
Ae Ra decides to seek revenge from Jung Woo as he acted so rude after all sacrifices she made for him. We see flashback of the day when they divorced and we see Ae Ra crying while hiding her emotions from Jung Woo.
We also find out that it was Ae Ra who earned money while Jung Woo did his research and then she spent three years after separation repaying the debts. There is a funnyTemptation Of Wife parody. Ae Ra finally vows to seek revenge by seducing Jung Woo and then slam him down. The only thing she wanted was his sorry that she suffered so much but she didn’t even get that. She starts her first step by joining his company which requires new people without emphasising on education or age.
Ae Ra gives an impressive interview and has some light bickering with Seung Hyun (who has also come for the interview and nobody knows he is the brother of Yeo Jin). She meets Jung Woo there who is shocked to see her and she makes excuse that she has applied in his company to run her livelihood and that this firm doesn’t require special abilities. He later throws her shortlisted resume
Seung Hyun doesn’t want career as businessman and wants to get himself kicked out, which he plans to do so in his three-month internship period.
Ae Ra is sure that she won’t get the job. But later is surprised that she finally got it.
We then move backward to see that the very same day of interview, Jung Woo saw Ae Ra in that reality show as she was saying that she never wants to meet her ex even in next life. This angers him and he goes back to his office and brings that resume back in the selected file.
Some hyung of Jung Woo sends flowers but it looks like they don’t have friendly terms anymore.

Ae Ra and Seung Hyun join the office and there they get assigned to work under a woman who has a crush on CEO Jung Woo and is not so happy to see Ae Ra (without any reason of course). She gives her all sorts of work to do. Jung Woo tries to show off his supremacy in front of Ae Ra.

"Cunning Single Lady" Drama

MBC’s new rom-com Cunning Single Lady premieres this week, and here are a couple of saucy posters featuring the drama’s once-married, now-divorced (and destined-for-a-rematch) couple in Lee Min-jung and Joo Sang-wook. Get ready for an onslaught of stills, many of them featuring beautiful people wearing comically bad hair.
Not that I mind the hair, actually, as it goes a long way to mussing up the robotically perfect-looking Joo Sang-wook, who is chiseled and handsome but always kinda looks the same. It’s refreshing to see him rumpled and dorky, even if it’s only in flashback that he gets to play the nerd—it’s only after his character’s divorce from Lee Min-jung (and makeover into a gorgeous gajillionaire) that he becomes a mega-success story, which prompts our heroine to come back to rekindle the romance.
I do hope the show finds a way to work around that rather cold-sounding premise, because when you’re the sad-sack genius whose ex wants you back only because you became rich and famous, well, aren’t we hard-wired to root for him to show her up? In the poster above, his line reads, “You dare make a move on me again?” Hers reads, “You dare become successful behind my back?”

It looks like the couple did have some happy days together in their early relationship, though, so there are real feelings involved despite the surface I-want-my-rich-ex-backmotivation. I can’t imagine there not being an explanation for it, so I’ll hope that Sly and Single Again manages to capture the fun, flirty vibe it’s putting out.
Plus if she’s motivated to go after him for the wrong reasons, I know I’ll enjoy looking for where the artifice (of her seduction plan) bumps up against her true feelings. WithEmergency Couple giving us the exes-reunited version where the couple falls back in love almost incidentally (without intent or desire to reunite), I’ll be looking forward to watchingSly’s version play things in a slightly different direction.
Due to Miss Korea ending its run this Wednesday (thanks to some Olympics programming that pushed it off-schedule), Cunning Single Lady will premiere on Thursday with a double-header, broadcasting both Episodes 1 and 2.

Despite the below-zero temperatures, since the scenes are set in the summertime, she acted in thin clothing but managed to keep a smile on her face at all times.
It is also said that the actress couldn’t contain her excitement and nervousness as it is her comeback to the small screen after nine months. She made sure to check with the main PD to discuss her character and lines.
After finishing her first filming, Lee Min Jung commented, “Na Ae Ra has a fierce and cunning image but on the inside, she still has warmth and innocence. Moreover, I like that she stays strong and works hard even after a difficult divorce.”
She continued, “Through Na Ae Ra’s character, I hope the viewers can think once more about love and marriage. I will work hard to make this a drama that makes you feel good and touches your hearts.”
Production staff sources also commented, “We can feel how much Lee Min Jung researched and worked on her character every time we shoot. Please look forward to Lee Min Jung’s new transformation through this drama.”
